What is your question?
I just bought a 95 dodge ram that has been sitting for years. The person who owned it before me put in brand new transmission. But will not shift. It will shift into 2nd and third but not 4th. I need urgent help because right now it is my daily driver as my car will not start. Can't drive over 35 miles an hour and mostly drive the highway to get to work. There is no other way to get to work. Plus speedometer is off a lot. Sometimes by 2 miles sometimes by 3 or 4 or even 5 miles an hour. So when I'm going 35 I'm actually going 32 33, or 34
What makes this problem better or worse?
Tried manually shifting. Does nothing
How long has your 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 had this problem?
5 months

Rear ABS sensor has *major influence* on transmission shifting and speedometer! Sensor located on TOP of rear differential.
Also, there is no indication of wheel and tire size and how it may differ from factory specifications. This can make a big difference when It comes to proper transmission operation. Regardless, if you're having trouble getting to above 35 miles per hour, there seems to be more going on here that requires testing.
The tires are 16s. Which i thought would cause the speedometer to mess up is cuz of bigger tires. But i don't have bigger tires. been 16 as long as i knew the person who owned it. I can get my truck to do 70 but i don't push it past 40. I checked the cable and had it adjusted but no luck there. I just bought an ABS sensors yesterday and hope that might be the problem. But i feel like there more to it than just that. I will take it in when i can get an appointment. Thank you
The replacement rear ABS ‘speed sensor’ won’t help unless it is installed!! Professional quality scan tool is capable of comprehensive scan testing - including live data on ‘this’ OBD 1 system.. I don’t see any testing details. Good luck!
Took it in a couple days ago and its the same. So i gotta take it back in to get it tested i guess. Also i drove my truck for two hours and the coo!ent is NOT hot! I took cap right off and didn't hiss or spit. Was like i didn't even drive it.
