the speedometer quit working and i would like to replace or fix it. what steps do i need to take. thanks waste53

The most common cause of the speedometer not working is failure of the vehicles speed sensor, located on the drivers side of the transmission tail shaft housing. the is a three wire connector which attaches to the sensor. the terminals on this connector should also be inspected for spreading or loose connection to the sensors connector pins. Other possible causes include the wiring, PCM or the Speedometer. The vehicle Speed Sensor is the least expensive way to go and takes minutes to replace. The Vehicle Speed sensor (VSS) part number is 4746691
