when it will not accelerate I can give the accelerator a fair amount of pressure for it to go but the RPM gets extremely high any ideas on what I should do

Yes - you should have this problem properly diagnosed by qualified personnel. Without **HANDS - ON** testing - no-one can give you an accurate - helpful answer as to what the exact problem is.. Professional scan test is 'highly' recommended!
