when i start my car it is revving high and engine pulsates. its fine in drive and reverse but make the noise while in park and nutral. and i have noticed when i turn the a/c on it stops!! what could be causing this?

It sounds like the idle speed is too high. The idle is controlled by an idle valve which is controlled by the engine control module. The engine module looks at a few sensors to help determine what the idle speed should be, the throttle position sensor, coolant temperature sensor and engine speed sensor. It's possible on of the sensors or sensor wiring is faulty, or the throttle valve is failing. Do you have a check engine light on?
My 01 has the same thing, except high rev on cold starts, rpm drops @ stops with foot on brake & in gear. After ckg & no codes or lights I searched, today with the engine off I found the line that goes from my EGR valve into manifold, has a rubber boot, well the rubber boot is bad.
my 03 altima is doing this exact same thing and no one can seem to figure it out
