Spark plug flew out of engine.

This only happened once and it has put my car down. The hole where the spark plug screws into the head is stripped out. I don't know how or why this happened. But I can't drive the car with one spark plug missing. It sounds like a very loud lawn mower. Do I have to replace the hole head of the engine to fix this one little problem? HELP!!
