Hello, when the engine is cold, it is usually a concern where there is air getting into the engine when the engine is not needing so much air. This could be from a sticking idle control valve, an unmetered air leak from the air box or air tube, or similar. It's just a guess, but when the engine is warm, more air is invited in to the engine and it becomes less of a challenge. Hands on inspection is needed to see what is going on.
