Hello, your timing belt may or may not be needed for replacement at this time. Dodge says 102,000 miles is the interval for "severe duty" - which most of us drive in. However, rubber, which your belt has as part of its construction, dry rots and becomes more brittle in time, usually 7 to 10 years. Based on the potential for significant damage and breakdown, I'd say you are past the point of needing to replace your belt. An inspection procedure does exist, upon removal of the timing cover. Replace belt if any of the following conditions exist upon inspection: -Hardening of back rubber - back side is glossy without resilience and leaves no indent when pressed with fingernail. -Cracks on rubber back. -Cracks or peeling of canvas. -Cracks on rib root. -Cracks on belt sides. -Missing teeth. -Abnormal wear of belt sides. The sides are normal if they are sharp as if cut by a knife. I always err on the side of caution!
