What is your question?
I just replaced defective the pink piece in my gear shifter, now my car won't crank. There is a brand new battery in it. I drove it around the block a few days ago. The lighting bolt symbol was lit up on the dash, as well. There is a click when I try to crank it. I doubt that the problem has anything to do with the shifter, as I'm sure I plugged everything back up correctly. Any suggestions?

Hello, If the click is coming from the starter relay, the gear shifter is not the issue. Once the shift-interlock system is functioning, turning the key to start will activate the starter relay and starter. I do have another theory, that the battery is too low to crank the engine. Perhaps from leaving a light on. First, place your hand on the starter relay (underhood fuse box). Have someone turn the key to start, and see if you feel that relay click when the key is turned to start and when the key is released back to the on/run position. If that is clicking, test the battery. If the battery is good, make sure the connections between the battery/chassis/fuse panel/starter are all good, clean and tight, then have the starter tested. If the starter works after you have tested everything and there seems to be no other cause, you will need to test the entire starting circuit to determine if there is a fault before replacing the starter. In that case, the starter may just have a bad spot, and moving it around while removing it may cause it to turn enough to 'catch'. Also, don't forget to check your fuses.
Hey, Casey! Thank you so much for answering. So, I checked the starter relay and there is a click. The battery is also brand new. I bought it two weeks ago. Before driving it around the block earlier this week, the car had been sitting for about three years or so. It was cranking up just fine before yesterday.
