Vehicle's rpm went all the way to 6 when bearly accelerating

pulled over put on my hazards as car was making a high pitched sound as if coming from fan, (it had been making the sound for a few days, but never left me stalled would only make noise at the rpm of 2) turned the vehicle off because of bad smell as if burning did want not the engine to blow, tried to start up to get off of the main roads for towing, and would not start.. gave a crank, but it was making a weird sound and would not turn on or even go into neutral.. please, if there is any answers, what could this be...

What makes this problem better or worse?

It's worse when I turn on the a/c
