Car was working fine I drove down the highway to work got back into the car about an hour later and went to reverse but it hesitated when I went to go forward there was no lights on the dashboard but when I accelerated it made a loud rattling noise I then parked it. Around noon I got back into the car to take it to the shop the engine light came on and the noise was even louder. This all literally come out of no where
What makes this problem better or worse?

Yes, unfortunately mechanical failures can happen :out of nowhere". If you've done all preventive maintenance and have had the vehicle since new, I'd approach Dodge about some goodwill assistance to help repair your vehicle. Naturally, it's not for sure, but it's better than giving up. If you have less than 5 years / 60,000 miles since the original first in service date, then the vehicle is still underneath Dodge factory powertrain warranty - so double check that also.
