Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your Dodge Journey. The red lightning bolt is an indication to you that the PCM (engine computer) has detected a fault with one of the engine components, more likely an electrical component like the throttle body assembly itself or one of the many other electronics. This may also be tied to the overheating concern you are experiencing. What will need to be done from here is to have a fully compatible high end scan tool plugged into your vehicle data port that is able to read all of the computers in your vehicle to see which fault codes are stored with this concern. Once this has been done any codes stored will then need to be diagnosed to pinpoint and repair this problem. I also recommend having the engine cooling system checked to see if it is low on coolant, if found to be low this can indicate a coolant leak that will need to be located and repaired. In many cases the testing needed is usually best to have performed by a reputable repair facility in your area where they will have the correct tools and knowledge to perform the testing.
