What is your question?
I have a 2009 Journey, 2WD 3.5L. Was working fine until timing belt broke which caused bent valves and a broken crankshaft. When battery is disconnected and reconnected it starts normally and drives perfect until it is shut off. When restarted without hard reset it tries a couple of times before it starts in limp mode. After multiple starts, battery is too weak to start. The mechanic said that something is telling the starter to turn on and then off so the starter is working correctly and doing what it's told. After 5 months he believes its a module or voltage issue but can't find the cause. There are no codes and only 1 dashboard light for the tire pressure although pressure is correct. TIPM, Battery, Battery cables, Alternator, Starter, Spark plugs, Camshaft sensor, Crankshaft sensor, Water pump, Timing belt, Crankshaft, 12 Engine Valves, Oil & filter, Transmission fluid & filter, Air filter, and Front axle (damaged when I hit a pothole). All wiring has also been checked.

Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If you hadn't experienced this before the timing belt failed and caused the damage, (which I'm sure required extensive repairs, if not engine replacement) I would revisit any, and all the electrical connections before moving any further. Specifically, any grounds that were removed for access to repair, I agree it sounds like it may be a module issue, but I think it's being created by a lack of grounding. If your mechanic hasn't been able to pinpoint the source of the issue, it may be time to consider a second opinion. If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call at 877-913-1554!
