I brought the battery over to auto zone and battery is very good. The 5 of 8.2 code came up when I held the trip button in and turned the key between the off position and the on position.
first, make sure all connections are clean, and tight on battery, starter,GROUND WIRES.then, get a helper and a volt meter.have the helper turn the key to the cranking position while you check the SMALL WIRE on the starter for battery voltage.if you have battery voltage on the small wire while the key is in the cranking position and the starter does not spin the engine or attempt to spin the engine over, then the starter is bad. if NO power on the small wire, then the ignition switch is not sending signal/voltage to the starter from the small wire to crank the engine, then the ignition switch is bad.
