Sometimes my gages go blank and I do not know why. Each time this happens, the ABS light comes on. What is causing this? Just like they go out at any time, functionality comes back at any time.

If you lost the function of all of the gauges, the Instrument Cluster circuit board, body control module (BCM) may have failed, To isolate the cause a qualified technician will have to check the wiring for proper voltages and grounds, and check the connectors for damaged terminals
98 model year has known problem with occasional dead gauges and/or no-crank, no-start conditions. Caused by bad solder joints in the instrument panel circuit board. Solution is to replace board or resolder the broken solder joints on the existing board. I got a new board for my 98 a couple years ago and have not had the problem since.
