My car will turn over but will not start. It will run for about 10 seconds die.

check with the local parts store, but it should be under the hood next to the carberator unless you have a fuel injected motor, then i would check your injectors. if they are dirty you could dump a can of injector cleaner in the gas tank and see if that helps.
