What is your question?
Ok.. This is a doozy, but I need any expertise advice I can get.. because I'm desperate for help. On Sept. 20, my car, "bounced" and suddenly went from 70 mph to 20. I had pressed my foot all the way down on the pedal and no luck. She bucked a few times and after waiting a bit, I took her to the first mechanic in Lafayette for help. The car did not record the code and they couldn't find anything, but she was due for an oil change. They couldn't duplicate the scenario. So I, and my uncle, drove it back, and same problem, only completely broke down.. 30 miles from Lafayette. Second attempt, coded 519. Third attempt, 22nd of this month.. this time I had a Fixd Sensor on it. Coded 171. Bounced this time and complete death, refused to start, under 30 mph in town (Crawfordsville, Indiana by the way.) Took it back and they are stumped. They even tried duplicating the scenario.. but no luck. (Same as the first two.) I'm at a loss.. and need some desperate help..
What makes this problem better or worse?
Apparantly, left alone for a while and it's fine.
How long has your 2002 Dodge Durango had this problem?
8 weeks.

P0519 indicates a problem with idle speed performance. P0171 indicates a "bank 1" "lean" running condition. Both are inconclusive in themselves as far as directing you to a single part to be concerned about. What is interesting is that you only have a lean code on bank 1 -- not both bank 1 and 2. If bank 2 was involved, you would also have a P0174. I would be thoroughly looking at the air intake system, air induction system and then your exhaust system for a potential restriction that is intermittent. Hands on testing by a skilled, experienced technician equipped with proper tools is needed.
