Engine light came on and engine started running at high revs while driving

Speedometer and RPM's pretty much matched each other when driving... No indication lights came on except check engine light.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Reset check engine light and it stopped... Happened twice in 6 months-i drive truck pretty regular...weird
