Anybody have any idea how much it would cost to replace the 3rd gear synchro on a manual transmission?

First of all, have you tried changing the trans fluid? If not do that first! I would look for a used transmission, or plan on a full rebuild, rarely do you take apart a manual and just replace 1 part.
