have a shop do a smoke test to see if there is a leak in a hose or the cannister. if not, could be the leak detection pump which is a common failure roy
I've seen this on other cars, not this specific car though. It can be a gas cap or a leak in the evaporative system. There a lot of places that can leak, the fuel tank, evap lines, charcoal canister etc. I suggest you take this to a shop that has a smoke machine so they can fill the system with the smoke and this helps to find the leak. This is the easiest and most cost effective way to deal with this otherwise you will be chasing this for along time and spending money on un-needed parts. A shop should charge about $80 - $90 to perform this for you. I would call around and see who has one of these machines: http://repairpal.com/dodge-repair-in-la-porte-texas
THANK YOU, VERY MUCH. VERY HELPFUL.
i've had the same problem with mine, actually had a wire fixed once at dealer, that worked for a while then it started coming back on again. If it's the same as mine, you can dosconnect your battery which will reset your light. I can't see any harm in it, it doesn't work any different and it's no harde on gas, Don't expect it could get any harder on gas!
I FOUND THE PROBLEM. ITS ONE OF THE HOSE COMING OFF THE EVAP CANISTER.ITS SPLIT PRETTY BAD. IT LOOKS LIKE THE LARGE END, COMING OFF THE CANISTER IS 1/2" I.D. AND ATTACHS TO A 3/8" O.D. HARD PLASTIC. I MIGHT BE ABLE TO CUT THE BAD PART OFF AND HAVE ENOUGH TO RE-ATTACH IT BACK ON TO THE CANISTER. I CAN NOT FIND A PARTS PLACE TO REPLACE THE OLD HOSE. THE HOSE APPEARS TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK. IS IT POSSIBLE TO RE-ATTACH THE HOSE AS MENTIONED, ABOVE?
