Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Sounds like you're running out of gas dealing with this issue! Your Dakota's issues indicate fuel delivery or engine management problems. The check engine light coming on before stalling suggests issues with the fuel pump, filter, or engine sensors. The erratic gas gauge and low fuel light could stem from electrical issues. A mechanic should conduct a diagnostic scan to retrieve stored codes and test components to promptly pinpoint and resolve these issues. Good luck!
