What is your question?
1998 Dodge dakota 5.2L 4x4 44re.I recently added about 3 quarts of atf. I definitely overfilled it by maybe 2 quarts. It is now leaking where the transfer case and transmission meet. It is leaking small puddles in an hour but not massive puddles. Will this leak stop after the fluid gets back to max capacity or no? I know it is probably the trans output seal or transfer case input seal. Also I have not driven the truck on the road ever since i accidentally put too much atf in it. Just back and forth from my garage to my yard.
How long has your 1998 Dodge Dakota had this problem?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Overfilling your transmission can increase pressure inside, which may push fluid past seals and cause leaks, especially around the output shaft seal. If you bring the fluid level back down to the correct amount, it might slow or even stop the leak, but sometimes damage to the seal can linger, causing it to continue leaking. If the leak persists, replacing the seal may be necessary to prevent further fluid loss.
