Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. In this pre-OBD-II vehicle, there are less available electronic diagnostic tests for you to try. However - a vehicle running always comes down to the same elements: 1) electrical spark in the cylinders of the engine 2) adequate presence of fuel, fuel pressure 3) having the right amount of air available to the engine (might be little, might be a lot) 4) having sufficient exhaust flow 5) no restrictions on the engine turning - such as a binding component connected by a belt, or a transmission issue 6) Engine control (computer influence) causing any of these elements to be affected That's ultra-simplified - but it does give you a template to start testing with. My guess is that you have insufficient fuel pressure to run your engine, or that you have an electronic engine control issue preventing the proper regulation of spark, fuel, air and so forth. I would suggest a fuel pressure test at the fuel rail with a manual gauge first. Then, check for spark at the spark plugs. I'm going to bet one of those two elements are missing to sustain the engine running. Once you figure out which one, then you will need to trace back to the root cause. Fuel pump issue? Ignition spark issue? Something the processor is reading and providing information to stop either of those things?
