gas gauge light comes on, however, fuel gauge does not work.

when i fill the tank with gas, the fuel gauge does not work, except when i am almost empty, then the empty light goes on. I have a 1992 dodge dakota.

Your fuel gauge is located in the fuel tank(electronic)probably gone bad and needs replaced to fix the problem.
