Heater core line cut overheated now wont start. Turned off before it shut itself off. So it will turn over and hits first cylinder and them sounds like it jumped time but had that checked and it's not timing chain. It's got to be a module or sensor but which one

Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team. Sounds like quite the experience for sure! The U1402 code is likely a result of the overheating, it means that the temperature signal went beyond the range of recognition by the engine control module. It sounds like you made a valiant attempt to keep engine damage at bay when you turned the car off before it did the honor. The downside of that is that the engine may have still suffered damage. If the timing has been checked and is okay, the next step would be to have a compression test done on the engine. Depending on the results of the test, if necessary, it is possible to pinpoint the issue with a leak-down test. The compression test will tell you which cylinders are affected, the leak down test will tell you where the point of failure is (i.e. head gasket, piston rings, intake/exhaust valve etc).
