I ran seafoam through it in the gas tank and beat on it for a few days and the light went off for a week then came on again. Should I be putting in 91 octane? Will that help. The dealer put in new plugs and a coil and ran cleaner through the fuel injectors. then the light came on 2 months later. They say, they would need to take the top end apart and clean it good for $1000. Isn't there something else I could do?

the engine light on means your car has the obd2 code, you need a scan tool to test out the code.
Use a fuel system cleaner like techron. Or something that contains high levels of poly ether amines. They are the only fuel additive known to clean the combustion chambers effectively. Regane and gum out work well too. Run a can of seafoam thru the vacuum line too.
I know, that is how I know the number 6 cylinder is miss firing.
The wire to plug number six is bad, allowing a spark to ground, or the plug itself is cracked, allowing the same thing. You may be able to see the sparking if you look at the wire/plug at night, in complete darkness as possible. Or try buying a new wire set and replacing that one wire. You can return them if it doesn't do the trick. HOPE HELP.
