Air conditioning is tricky. Was the system properly evacuated and cleaned and on recharge was the proper amount of refrigerant and oil put back in the system. Pressure gauges put on the high and low side will determine if the pressures are right. For specifications and repair instructions there is a company that independent auto repair shops "buy" their information from that offer a very reasonable service to do it yourselvers. You can get a one week subrcription or year subscription very cheap. The information is year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... great quality information same as the professionals have ,much better than generic workshop manuals from parts stores, much cheaper than the factory manual try http://bit.ly/mitchell_repair_manuals_online and get an online repair manual subscription.
I'm assuming everything was done correctly as it was done by a radiator and ac business. they did the new ac compressor, accumulator/drier, and ac service. I had work done on friday and took it back in on monday, they said that I needed to replace the tri-nary switch which had been redisigned by chrysler and had to be rewired. They wanted to charge another $230. I just paid them over $700 on friday. I felt like it should have been done for free, since I just had all that work done on friday. I actually had very good cold air when I took it in on friday. I had a noise that we could not determine if it was alternator or air compressor. They said it was air compressor so I let them put a new one in. Did not stop my noise, so they checked it out and it was the alternator, so they replaced it free, since they told me it was my air compressor. I know, it is a big mess!!!! I just want to know if it could be this tri-nary switch. Have been told if it was the switch I would not have air at all. Thanks for any help. MAY 20,2010 Well I took my van to the dealer today to have the air checked. I'm not happy at all!!!! They say I need to replace the front a/c probe sensor. $600!!!! They have to take the dash out to do it. I can"t find it in my repair manual I bought. I guess it's not a do it yourself thing. Any thoughts are appreciated.
