What is your question?
I was driving through the middle of town. The speed limit was had just changed to 40 from 30mph. The car was running fine. It is an automatic transmission. When I pushed on the gas a little to speed up to 40mph the car wouldn't go. The rpms went way up but the car's speed went down. I coasted into the parking lot of a gas station. Once I was stopped I tried to put it in park and then in drive again. Same thing. The rpms went up but the car wouldn't move. So I put it in park and turned it off. I turned it back on, put it in drive and it worked. Well kind of. It won't move at all when put in reverse. And to get it to drive forward I have to put it in park, turn the car off, back on and put it into drive again. It works until the first time it shifts gears and then it won't drive and I have to stop, put it in park, turn the car all off.....ect.

Hello, I'm really sorry to report this, but it sounds like a pretty major transmission issue has occurred. It will take some testing by a qualified technician who knows their way around this vehicle and transmission to give you a real assessment. But based on the concern description, it doesn't sound good. There's an outside chance the fluid is low for some reason, so check that first. And, there's a chance there's an electrical problem -- but based on then lack of engagement, it is sounding mechanical. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops Check that link to find a shop near you.
