I would have a proper diagnosis done before assuming the transmission is bad.The Caliber can have four engine options all different labor times and cost. The 2.4L is 9 to 9.5 hours labor to replace transmission cost will vary by where it is sourced from, or what exactly is wrong with it.

Hi Cysalj The noise is from the wrong oil been used in the oil change it needs to be SAE 5w-20 nothing else and it is costly. I have just replace my oil with SAE 5w-30 and its making the same sound, can't believe it either. I don't know how long it goes before something else brakes. The noise is coming from the timing chain. Remove the oil and replace with SAE 5w-20 will stop the humming sound when you press the gas pedal. All the best Hamish Curtis
