The gas hand light came on and so I put gas in it. It stayed on. It is not moving when it is clearly on a full tank.

Since the gauge is still saying empty even when you have just filled up you’re likely looking at one of only a handful of potential causes. The most common cause would be that the fuel level sensor inside the tank has failed. However it is also possible that you have a wiring issue or an issue with the gauge itself.
