For the back row: Collapse the back of the chair forward to cover the seat using the side handle labeled #1. Make sure the back of the chair locks in this position. Also make sure the headrest is in the lowest position. Pull lever #2 and push/rock the chair forward as to "sort of" sit on the headrest. Then pull the black loop labeled #3 (this may have worn off through the years.) located under the chair. This releases the lock at the front of the chair. As you continue to pull on this loop, pull the chair up and back toward yourself (backward). The chair should roll out as you pull it. My van has a back bench and 2 middle captains chairs so I do this process for each chair. To return the seats. Line up the wheels from the chair with the track, push the collapsed chair forward (like it is going to sit on the headrest again.). The locks at the front of the chair should catch the metal bar from the track. Push down on the back of the chair and the chair should lock in at the back bars. Sometimes I have to rock the chair forward a few times before the front locks catch the bar. You can pull on the black loop (#3) to open the lock if you want, just release it when the lock catches before locking in the rear of the chair. Hope this helps, have patience and muscle.
