How to adjust strut bearing plate

Hello, I bought a pair of front quick strut s online specific to fit my 99 town and country. I had the old ones removed and turned the plate to line the bolts up to match the old strut. But the angle of the plate was not the same and the bolts wouldn’t go into the holes. Ideas?
