How do I fix the "secure cargo shield" message if the cargo shield is in place?

Hello, I own a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. A few days ago, the top was working perfectly. Now, the top wont go down and I get a "secure cargo shield" message on my dash cluster. The problem is, my cargo shield is in place. It's folded out and the springs are in the notches. I was researching the issue and maybe it's a sensor? Would I have to get a whole new shield or possibly find a sensor if it's even a sensors. -thank you
