Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! I get it! Car repairs can be frustrating and expensive. The short answer is, yes you can often find parts for your 2007 Chrysler Sebring online at a lower price compared to purchasing them through a mechanic. The issues I've run into in the past with my customers are: A. It's the incorrect part even though it was ordered with the same/correct part number. B. The shop may void their warranty if it uses a customer-supplied part. C. The part is of poor quality. Regarding the shift control cable, if it's broken, it's typically necessary to replace the entire cable rather than just repairing it. This ensures proper functionality and safety. However, you could ask your mechanic if there are any alternative solutions or if they can provide a breakdown of the cost to understand why the repair is priced at $1300. You can always get a second opinion and don't forget to use RepairPal's free online estimator to help get an idea of the cost in your area!
