code for the sensor? could it be a coil? My car has a mitzubishi 2.4 ltr engine in it

It can be the o2 sensor or the cat itself......need a good OBDII reader to checking switching of the o2 sensors...
More than likely that catalytic converter. The o2 are doing their job telling you the catalyst is bad.
