There is what's called a torque converter in your trans. When the vehicle is shut off the trans fluid is supposed to stay in the torque converter. It sounds like you have a bad drain back valve which is allowing the fluid to drain out of the torque converter. My vehicle does the same thing if I let it sit for more then three days.
