When my car is idling at just a light, it starts to stutter, then will die.

The check engine light is not on. I do check codes when it does come on I purchased a code reader. Thank you

those code readers do just that- read codes..you will need a scanner that has data stream...did you check fuel pressure?

Thank you for all of your replies. Check engine light came on and is reading code p0300. A mechanic came out and says it's the fuel pump. I am wondering if this sounds right.
