Sounds like I have a tool box dumped in my trunk. This happen all of a sudden. I've never heard or had any kind of warning that anything was even wrong with the rear end of my car. I parked it because I have no idea what it is. Strut shock suspension issue I don't know please help. I looked underneath and nothing is hanging or looks to be broke so I don't know but it's loud and out of nowhere

The upper mount brackets on the rear strut assemblies (L/R) are famous for breaking. You can replace the bracket and damper to save money (price under $50 for each side), but the work is not for amateurs since the strut assembly has to be removed, the coil spring compressed, mount plate replaced and then the reverse before it can e reinstalled. If you are willing to do the work, save the money, because the alternative is replacing the whole strut assembly (about $200 for the pair if done yourself). Its easier to replace the whole assembly, but more costly. When shopping for the assembly, look for shock/strut "quick assembly".
My daughter has a 2001 convertible. The rear strut broke loose and sounded like the rear was going to fall out. The aluminum mount that holds the top of the strut at the body connection corroded from road salts and broke apart. Much rust on the undercarriage suspension and brakes, too. Had to replace the calipers, rotors, pads and all struts. Also, the rear ball joint just let go and she's in S. Carolina. I had her tow the car to a reputable repair shop that other family members had used. Waiting to hear the estimate. She got a good deal buying, but we put a lot of work into repairing it. http://www.rockauto.com/ is my go-to parts store!!
This is exactly what the mechanic said was happening to my 2002, with 105,000 miles. How much do you estimate it will cost for me to have this work done by a mechanic, include the labor please ? I am a woman who has always gotten 3 quotes and they really go from the least to the highest, for instance, I was quoted for a front left wheel bearing 430.00 and another mechanic quoted me 1800.00 then the 3rd wanted 2,100.00 ... If I could afford a car payment, I would just trade the car in...not sure what it's honestly worth and I know these car dealers rack up a lot more, so your paying on interests and the loan, and not the true value of the car. thanks for answering , in advance, it helps me :)
