Why is my 1998 Chrysler Sebring stuck and will not shift out of first gear and overheating

Too much transmission fluid -- had some recently been added? I don't believe this is influencing the vehicle sticking in first gear. There is likely an electrical or mechanical transmission issue that will need some troubleshooting performed to resolve.
