My Sebring convertible doesn't shift into higher gear when speed reaches 40+ mph

Check to see if kick-down or throttle position linkage is hooked up... had a similar problem before on a '93 thunderbird with a 5.0L... keeper clip had come off which held the cable linkage onto a bracket attached to the accelerator/throttle linkage
