I have a 2001 touring edition. Automatic trans downshifts hard.
What is your question?
My Cruiser has been well maintained. It has about 186,000 miles and the tranny has yet another issue in the three years I have owned it. It is downshifting. The tranny fluid was changed by a professional 9 months ago. The filter was replaced. The tranny sensor was replaced about 3 years ago. The solenoid was just replaced a few days ago. Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions?

No code was detected. It was leaking so bad it was visibly noticeable. A small puddle was under my car for about the last month. 2 mechanics said the same thing. We all thought that this was why it was shifting hard. It made logical sense to me. However, I drove it off the car repair lot and it continued to shift down hard from second to first. It's an auto trans. If I get it up to 40 MPH and then slow down to a normal stop, it will shift down hard around 10/15 MPH. It just started doing this about 2 weeks ago. I've have had the car 3 years. It has had a tranny sensor, tranny solenoid, and tranny pan replacement. I drive carefully, taking the speed bumps slow and such. Other blogs and forums I have checked said that the tranny fluid really needs ATF +4 fluid and that would solve the problem. This was done by the mechanic 9 months ago. It was verified. Now that all the outside things are fixed (to my knowledge) I the only thing that needs to be fixed now is the INSIDE!
Just to clarify--when you say 'no code detected' , you mean that a scanner (NOT code reader) has been hooked up and the trans control module has been scanned for DTCs and ALSO test driven and had 'live data' monitored? IF that has not been done , then you might want a skilled trans. tech to do that. Check engine light does not have to be on when A/T problems are present.
