Hello, it sounds like the "lifts" - which look like little shock absorbers - that hold up the hatch may be weak or have failed. Fortunately, these are available pretty readily at most reliable parts stores, or your local dealership. Changing them can be challenging - as the door will have to be supported in the open position to do so. And that door is heavy! So be careful. Or, enlist the help of a shop near you. The labor costs won't be so bad as it's not a terribly difficult job ultimately, with the right tools and experience.
