Why does my gas gauge show half a tank and 2 min later it will be on empty

Hello, this is caused by either a sending unit problem in the fuel tank, which measures fuel level and by voltage and resistance differences sends a signal to the instrumentation and fuel gauge, or a problem with the wiring in the same system.
