Only the small seat in the back will fold down the bigger side feels like it releases but it doesn't and I can't see where it meets can anybody help me

This would be highly unusual for this engine, but I obviously cannot speak to vehicle maintenance and the condition, level and grade of engine oil and the engine oil filter. The wrong grade of oil can cause engine noise. A faulty filter can cause issues. Strongly advise hands on inspection before driving further, as noise is an indication of wear.
