How do you reset check engine light?

You have to use a scan tool to erase the stored fault codes, but you can try removing power to the engine control module by pulling the fuse. I advise against disconnecting the battery, this can lead to new problems, like having to re-calibrate other systems on the vehicle.
Thanks for the heads up on not disconnecting the battery cable. I looked for an ECM fuse but could not find one in the fuse box under the hood. Is there another fuse box, or another name for the ECM in the under the hood fuse box?
