Hello, I have a 1992 Chrysler LeBaron convertible, 3.0 v6, when I first got the car it would barely crank. I assumed starter issues so I had the starter tested and it tested perfectly. when I reinstalled the starter it no longer cranks. after that I checked the starter relay it seems to be good, the battery is good and there is full voltage at the starter but when I crank the car the starter clicks once then nothing and there is an 8volt drop at the starter connection. I replaced a couple of engine grounds(no change), also when I turn the key to start all lights work then after the starter clicks the lights go off. Any advice would be appreciated I've tried for days to get this thing to crank. Thanks

What is the condition of the battery when tested by a quality tester - like a Midtronics one, or a carbon pile tester? Putting a load on the battery will show if it can handle the power of a starter motor. To me, if you say that the starter "tested perfectly", then it must be battery or cables.
I think you'll find the battery is good to light lights and turn on the radio, but when a 300 amp draw is put on it from a starter motor, it won't hold the load.
As a secondary concern - check to ensure the engine actually turns with a breaker bar.
Thanks for the reply, I haven't had the battery tested yet. , but I have used a charge/ jump box on it (no change), tried jumping it with my truck( no change). I ran down all the cables and sanded the contacts on all of them, from the battery to the starter and grounds. Engine turns freely with a breaker bar. If I'm jumping it with my truck shouldn't that be plenty of power, battery, or no battery? I had the starter bench tested at advance auto, all good. the check engine light is on. and I have tried the key on/off/on/off on. I get code 12 (number of key ons since last fault or since faults erased) and code 55(completion of fault code display on the check engine light). thanks
