What is your question?
Why does it get stuck in 2nd gear occasionally but will reset and be ok if it's turned off and back on?

Hi, I'm Bogi, one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Sorry to hear that you are having car troubles. What you're describing is a classic limp mode situation, where the transmission or engine control module detects a fault and defaults to second gear as a protective measure to allow you to still drive the vehicle without causing further damage. The fact that it resets when you cycle the ignition is pretty typical of this behavior. On your 2004 Chrysler Concorde common triggers for this include a failing transmission solenoid, a dirty or low transmission fluid condition, a faulty transmission range sensor, or a transmission control module that is beginning to act up, all of which are known issues on vehicles of this era. The important thing to know is that even though it resets and seems fine afterward, limp mode is your car's way of telling you something needs attention, and ignoring it can lead to more serious and costly transmission damage down the road. I’d recommend having a qualified shop pull any stored transmission codes and do a proper diagnosis sooner rather than later.
