Automatic window goes off track on way up

Could this problem be due to the window glass lift plates? If so, it that a part on it's own or part of the window regulator or window motor?

Good question--it could be, but it depends on your car and how it's designed. It's not going to be a part of the motor, though--it may be part of the regulator assembly.
