Hello, Inside the air ducts are little doors controlled by electric motors. They are called blend doors, and the motors are blend door actuators. Blend doors are turned one way or the other to change the temperature of the air coming out of the vent. When they move, they allow more or less hot or cold air through, and that air blends together to provide you the temperature you selected. When the blend door or the actuator breaks, you lose the ability to adjust temperature on that side. Some vehicles require removal of the dash panel and air conditioning assembly to replace the blend doors, but others allow the blend doors to be replaced from the floorboard or glove box. Always check your fuses first.
