My Chrysler 300 is stuck in park. What do I do?

Usually there is a manual release somewhere near the base of the gear shift, look for a slot of a plastic cover or buttoin that can be removed. You use a key or something similar to insert in the slot. Make sure you have the parking brake on and hold the foot brake as firmly as possible. Insert a key preferably a long one in the slot and push in, move the gear selector to "N" start the car. You must do this every time you need to get out of park. It could be either the brake light switch or the shift lock solenoid. This should be taken care of as soon as convenient for you. I looked in the owners manual for the manual release and couldn't find it. I did find over 400 pages of useless crap on cup holders, vanity mirrors, and how to use the on-board telephone. The owners manual isn't worth the paper it is printed on IMHO. I hope this helps.
Thank you so much! I have been strainded all weekend long. My mother ran up on this post here and It worked!!!!!!! I used a screw driver and its a little square box under the shifter panel and its got a cable on it. I used the screw driver and push down and it shifted!! I am exstatic!!! Thank you so much!! I will be checking on the metal one from Billet.com though! 2007 Chrysler 300 :)
Just Fixed my yesterday there is a spring attached to a plastic peice inside the gear box that breaks it is common in chryslers I have a 300, I pulled up the center counsel removed the gear box, drilled a hole in the pink cheap plastic peice attached the spring back on with a zip tie and ready to go, Note: chrysler will not sell you the pink peice they will make you buy the whole gear box for over $200 if you want them to install it now your looking at $4-500. took me 2 hours i can probably do it in an hour now hehehe
mine broke already at 12,000 miles warranty dealer fixed it but you can release it under shifter you can relaese tabs
Just went through this. Looked at all recommendations and the one that helped talked about pushing on the pink lever towards the front of the console. I could not find any release button. Finally got the top of the console off (two screws at the front of the shift console cover) and pry off after removing screws. The back pick spring was broke and in pieces. I could see the front pink lever. Pushed it forward with long screw driver with the key on and brake depressed. Shifter came out of park. Took a thin piece of wood and duck taped it to the console after reassembly to prevent me from putting in park until repaired. Obviously, must park in neutral with parking brake and avoid steep hills. Also, keep tools to repeat brocedure if needed.
you can buy a metal one from Billet.com. Chrysler doesn't sell part, its plastic now thats why the spring breaks. Chrysler charges a lot to fix the problem being they don't have the part they put a whole new gear shift knob deal in. Go to youtube and type in park lock out mech. learn more about it. No big deal just carry a screw driver around with you to move the cable so it comes out of park. I just use my foot emergency break and put my car in N. Then after I turn it off slide it up into R to keep it from rolling so easy. Look for my posts by Kona Girl and read more info.
