Windshield wiper fluid not working.

What is your question?

Mechanic said it was the multifunction switch that needs replacing (windshield wiper, lights). But when I press it to activate the windshield wiper fluid, the windshield wipers work but no fluid. Is it still possible that the the problem is the switch or do you think it's more likely the fluid pump? I don't hear the pump working when I press the switch.

What makes this problem better or worse?
